Glastonbury 2017: Feel Horny

Glastonbury in 2017 was fabulous.  We made it into the Glastonbury Programme, coming in at Number 18 in the list of things to do.

After the mud and Brexit blues that swamped the event in 2016, this year we had sunshine and positive politics. We joined a giant peace sign, fought the crowds to see Jezza speak, and of course we made rings (and friends) with lots of folk.

We continued to work with people of all ages (and abilities) and spent many hours chatting about the past, present and future with our patrons.  We love getting people together to chat about their Glastonbury experiences, music, archaeology and life in general.  The Greencrafts Village is a proper hub, and we hear tales from across the site, and across the world.

We are always very keen to get everyone involved in making; many of the people who come to see us have never crafted anything before.  The joy that this act of creation brings is captured in the fantastic smiles on everyone’s faces when they have completed a ring.

Thanks to the Greencrafts Village again for hosting us. Due to being featured in the Programme we could not fit in all those who wanted to join us, please do come back in 2019. We will miss you all in 2018, but feel free to find us in another field.

We welcomed new team members (Barbara, Jerrod and Marie) this year and explored what ‘making’ meant to Glasto folk.  The team covered most of the site taking full advantage of all that Glastonbury had to offer.  Last year we created a map of where we went in 2016;  this year one member traveled 67k over the five days!  So when you leave Glastonbury feeling exhausted its because you have done waaaaay over your usual steps for the day.

Each colour is a different person – where they go depends on their age, interests and work patterns.

We had a range of Glastonbury musical highlights from Radiohead to Sleaford Mods, DJ Shadow, Napalm Death and Barry Gibb. Here is a shot of 5 of the team at the front of West Holts watching Moderat (and we were on the BBC as well).
